Shedeur Sanders has distinguished himself as one of the top quarterbacks in college football this season and has already stated his intention to declare for the NFL Draft. In the first half of Colorado's game Saturday against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Sanders broke the program's 28-year single-season passing record.

Sanders was named the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner, which recognizes the nation's top upperclassman quarterback, during the game. He proceeded to throw an eight-yard touchdown pass to the Heisman favorite Travis Hunter to put the Buffs ahead 21-0 in the first half.

Before the game, Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz posted information from scouts regarding Sanders and Hunter.

"Several NFL teams in attendance today to see Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter’s final home game at Colorado," Schultz tweeted. "Says one NFL executive: “Not only are they both going top five in the draft, but I believe they’re going 1-2, back-to-back. Should that occur, it would be the first time in 25 years — when Penn State had the first two picks in Courtney Brown and LaVar Arrington."

College football fans had mixed reactions to the mock draft projecting Sanders and Hunter as the top two picks.

Some fans were not convinced the stars merited high draft projections.

"Hahahahah zero chance Sanders should go that high. Thats exactly what wrong with nfl drafting of qbs too high," one fan tweeted.
"Sanders has looked very shaky today," another fan tweeted.
"That would be a massive overdraft for Sheduer," one fan tweeted.

Sanders and Hunter tabbed to go 1-2

During last Friday's episode of the "Gojo & Golic" show, ESPN draft expert Matt Miller was asked whether the speculation about Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter being the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft were accurate and he answered in the affirmative. He further dissociated the rankings from the hype generated by Deion Sanders, instead giving the two stars their props.

"I mean, they (Shedeur & Hunter) are spectacular players and they just deserve to be at the top," Miller said. "This is not about the hype of Coach Prime or any of that. These are really, really good football players who've earned that billing as top prospects in this class.
"Now, I think what's most interesting in this mock draft, I had the New York Giants trading up to No. 1 overall where the Jacksonville Jaguars sit right now and I think it's important to note that Coach Prime is going to be very influential over where his guys as he calls them, where they land. I think if you're a fan of the Cleveland Browns or the Carolina Panthers or the New York Jets, you could probably cross these guys off your wishlist."

Most mock drafts, including ESPN and CBS Sports, have Sanders and Hunter being top ten picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
