Quinn Ewers failed to unleash his full potential when it mattered the most. Despite having a great debut in the SEC, the Texas Longhorns failed to lift the conference championship after succumbing to a 22-19 OT loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Ewers continued his duties as the Longhorns' starting quarterback in this thrilling SEC championship game. However, he failed to deliver the crucial victory. He finished the game by completing 27 of the 46 passes he attempted on the field. He also recorded a total of 358 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions against the Bulldogs.

After the game, fans took to social media to criticize Steve Sarkisian for keeping Ewers in the game despite his underwhelming performance. One fan stated that Arch Manning would have been a better prospect on the field against the Bulldogs.

"Sark is a bum for staying with Ewers over Arch."

Another fan felt that if Sarkisian sticks with Ewers it might prove fatal in their hopes of winning the national championship.

"Steve Sarkisian's attachment to Quinn Ewers is going to cost Texas a national championship."

This fan stated that Sarkisian is to blame for this loss and that the Longhorns need to make a QB change for the playoff.

"This L is on Steve Sarkisian. He needs to sit Quinn Ewers & go with Arch Manning. He is the better quarterback & gives Texas a better opportunity score points with his arm & his feet."

Another fan gave his vote of confidence to Arch Manning as the better quarterback over Quinn Ewers.

"If I'm Steve Sarkisian I'm starting Arch Manning in the playoffs. It's not that big of a drop off between Ewers and Arch. Quinn Ewers is so MID."

This fan stated that Steve Sarkisian needs to be bold and make the changes necessary instead of sticking with Ewers for the playoffs.

"At some point Steve Sarkisian needs to take a chance and switch to Archie Manning. Quinn Ewers is holding Texas back from a championship. Do what Nick Saban did when he went with Tua."

One fan had a bold statement to make about Sarkisian and Ewers.

"Steve Sarkisian sold his soul to Quinn Ewers."

Steve Sarkisian on Georgia QB change amid Quinn Ewers-Arch Manning debate

While Texas didn't make a quarterback change, Georgia did after Carson Beck suffered an injury and was replaced by Gunner Stockton. Sarkisian believed the change proved beneficial for the Bulldogs.

"They made the change of quarterback. I think it sparked them some and provided some different style of offense running the quarterback."

But while Sark gave his team some credit for coming back and forcing overtime, he criticized their overall ineffectiveness.

"I thought our guys showed a great deal of resiliency and fight today to fight back to force overtime," said Sarkisian. But at the end of the day, we weren't effective enough in the high red to put touchdowns on the board. And I think that in and of itself was probably a microcosm of the game because we had plenty of opportunities, but we didn't capitalize on it."

While Texas failed to win the SEC, they still have a shot at lifting the natty. It will be interesting to see if Steve Sarkisian will make any changes, particularly at quarterback, heading into the 12-team playoff.
