The college football world was impressed after a training video of Mason Graham—Michigan Wolverines defensive tackle—was released on social media.
Graham looked to be explosive and extremely fast, which led many fans to think he's due for a breakout season. Some were also surprised that he was not named to the 2023 First-Team All-Big Ten Defense.
"Chip still doesn’t think he’s worth offering a scholarship," a fan wrote.
"The plays he made last year game in and game out…There’s a reason he was nicknamed “First Rounder” as a true freshman," a fan wrote.
"Still amazes me how dudes that big can move like that, guess that’s why they make the big bucks," a fan wrote.
He recorded 35 tackles last year, along with three sacks and one forced fumble, as he helped secure the national championship in January.
Michigan will open the 2024 college football season at home on August 31 against Fresno State. This will be Graham's third year with the team.
What is Mason Graham's draft projection?
NFL Draft Buzz saw the defensive tackle as a top 10 selection in the 2025 draft. Meanwhile, Pro Football Network listed him as one of the top defensive prospects projected to be a mid-first round selection. The former said that Graham had great motor and first step—which allowed him to swiftly get past offensive linemen heading into the backfield.
He was a four-star high school recruit in the class of 2022, and was the 21st ranked defensive lineman according to 247Sports. However, one knock on him has been his size as he's on the shorter side for his position. Fortunately, his strength and speed have made up for it.
