Shane Beamer has been the South Carolina Gamecocks coach since 2021. And so far this season, he has helped the team to a 5-3 (3-3 Southeastern Conference) record. After failing to qualify for a bowl game last season, Beamer and the Gamecocks will be aiming to qualify for one this year, with four more games remaining in the regular season.
In Week 10, Beamer and the Gamecocks pulled off an upset 44-20 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies at home. Williams-Brice Stadium erupted in celebration after South Carolina fans stormed the field to celebrate defeating the Aggies. Beamer also used this opportunity to do something special for his wife Emily.
In a video shared on social media, Shane Beamer and his players gather in the locker room after the game. He then told them that it was his wife's birthday week and that the victory was dedicated to her as a birthday present. The players also joined Beamer in singing "When I See U" by Fantasia for his wife, creating an unforgettable moment for Emily.
"I told my kids all week that if we won this football game, I was going to do a little celebration for her (Emily)," Beamer says in the video.
Shane Beamer and his wife Emily have known each other since their college days. They got married in 2006 and have three children together. Emily worked in sports information during her college days, so she shares the same passion in the same field as her husband.
The couple's eldest daughter, Sutton, was born in 2008. She was followed by their daughter Olivia in 2010 and son Hunter in 2013. Emily looks after the kids and their home and dedicates her time to the upbringing of her children.
Shane Beamer has high praise for redshirt freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers after Week 10 victory
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers committed to play for the Gamecocks as a part of the 2023 recruiting class. He redshirted his freshman season as the backup to Spencer Rattler before being named the starting QB in 2024.
During South Carolina's victory over Texas A&M, LaNorris Sellers led the offense while tallying a total of 244 yards and two touchdowns. He also completed 13 of 27 passes he attempted on the field. In the postgame press conference, Shane Beamer opened up about his confidence in his quarterback and also praised him for his performance.
"He's special," Beamer said. "He's just going to get better. When he had those two losses against LSU and Alabama he was inexperienced."
The Gamecocks are next scheduled to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. It will be interesting to see if they can go on to qualify for a bowl game this season.
