Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders is amid his final collegiate campaign before declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. He transferred from Jackson State last season and has gone on to make quite a name for himself. So far this season, the QB has tallied 2,591 passing yards and 21 TD passes while helping the Buffs qualify for the Bowl games.
Given the talent that Shedeur Sanders has, he is expected by some to be the No.1 pick in next year's draft. Former NFL star Darius Butler has high hopes for the Colorado QB in his professional journey.
Butler appeared on the "Pat McAfee" show this week. Both of them discussed Shedeur Sanders' future in the NFL and how he is always raising his draft stock.
"He's one of those guys that does everything," Butler said. "It doesn't matter who you are, you saw that intercation with him and Cam (Newton) and obviously I don't know what their relationship is.
"Whoever you are, whatever you are, everything you say about him, cause he's done it on the HBCU level. Then he came up. he's doing it in Colorado. So he's gonna remember everything he's been saying and he's gonna stack those chips and continue with it."
The Colorado QB decided to forego this year's NFL draft where Caleb Williams was the No.1 pick. He opened up about the reasons that led to him deciding to return to Colorado for another year of college football.
"I'm trying to be the first quarterback off the board," Shedeur told reporters back in March. "I respect Caleb (Williams), I respect how he plays. He's a great player. But overall there's just different tiers of quarterbacks."
NFL draft expert predicts which team Shedeur Sanders could play for in 2025
Last month on ESPN's "The First Draft" show, draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. talked about the quarterback's future in the NFL. He opened up about how one particular team seems fit for Coach Prime's son and how it would make sense for him to go there.
"The team that screams Shedeur is Las Vegas," Kiper said. "He patterns himself after Tom Brady. Tom Brady is going to influence this draft in Las Vegas in terms of the QB evaluation. If we're talking about the draft right now and not on the 8th right? If you need a quarterback, Shedeur Sanders would make sense there."
Before Shedeur Sanders can focus on his professional future, he still needs to help Colorado emerge victorious in this season's Bowl games. The QB will be looking to end his collegiate journey on a successful note and create a legacy with the Buffs for others who come after him.
