Shedeur Sanders wasn't named in the Heisman finalists list alongside teammate Travis Hunter. However, he will be at the ceremony on Saturday at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
Or will he not? On Wednesday's episode of the "Travis Hunter Show," when the quarterback and two-way star discussed the upcoming award ceremony, Hunter threw a warning at Sanders, regarding his etiquette for the ceremony (Timestamp: 13:00):
"You better not come in there with that baggy suit on it dog. Again, dog, we going to move you, you ain't going to be sitting next to us."
To this, Sanders replied:
"I know, bro, I was supposed to get my own table but..."
Shedeur Sanders then covered his face with the palm of his hand, while he shook his head. Travis Hunter attempted to console him and said that it was better this way as they would have more of an opportunity to be united and feel each other's love, as opposed to the competition they would have between them if both of them were in contention for the Heisman.
Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and Miami's Cameron Ward were the other three players selected as Heisman finalists. However, a majority of analysts seem to agree that, besides Hunter, Jeanty is the only one with a true shot at the award.
Shedeur Sanders on how he feels about having been passed over for the Heisman
On Tuesday's episode of his YouTube show, "2Legendary With Shedeur Sanders," the Colorado signal-caller opened up to former NFL player Darius Sanders on how he felt about not being named a finalist for the Heisman:
"I'm really not tripping on it, bro," Sanders said (Timestamp: 3:45). "Like, honestly, I don't need others' validation to know who I am. ... So, I don't really care as long as they give at least one of us (Travis Hunter) the respect we deserve. That's all that matter to me.
"If I win an award ... it's on behalf of the team, the O-line, the receiving corps. ... Because without those guys, I wouldn't be able to do it. ... So, if Travis receives the award, it's because of the team"
Sanders also confirmed that he was getting ready for No. 20-ranked Colorado's Alamo Bowl game against 17th-ranked BYU on Dec. 28. The game is the first postseason encounter for the Buffaloes since 2020 when they also participated in the Alamo Bowl and lost to Texas. If they win the game it would be Colorado's first postseason victory since 2004.
