Fans reacted as Nebraska handed Shedeur Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes its first road loss of the season with a 28-10 win on Saturday night. Despite high hopes, quarterback Sanders and the Buffaloes struggled to find their rhythm in Lincoln. Meanwhile, the win was a long-awaited moment for Nebraska fans, who hadn't beaten Colorado since 2010, suffering three straight losses.
The game also sparked plenty of chatter online. Social media lit up when Sanders threw a pick-six, with fans poking fun at the quarterback's draft potential. Nebraska took advantage of a mistake by Sanders when Tommi Hill picked off a pass and ran it back seven yards for a touchdown, putting Nebraska 14-0 ahead early on.
Some of the light-hearted comments on X (formerly Twitter) posted:
“Safe to say Shedeur Sanders won’t be flashing his watch after this throw,” Barstool Sports tweeted.
“Shedeur’s draft stock is tanking,” Prize picks tweeted.
“All Sanders are OVERRATED,” a fan tweeted.
"Feel like the media gives Shedeur the same treatment as Angel Reese. Heisman watch? This dude's average,” another fan wrote.
“Reminder, this is the squad Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders played last week,” a fan wrote with a fun picture.
"He freaking stinks. Every time I hear he’s a first round pick I cringe. Ps he’s also slow. I can’t believe he’s a Sanders,” one wrote.
Nebraska's defense came up big, stopping the Buffaloes twice on fourth-and-1 plays.
The Huskers’ relentless pass rush kept Sanders on his heels, but the crowd played a key role in Nebraska's performance. Coach Matt Rhule praised the fans and the electric atmosphere.
“The crowd noise was fantastic, the energy was fantastic, and I think our players fed off that,” Rhule said (H/t The NP Telegraph). “Thank you to the student section. They were there early, thank you to our fans; it was really a special night.”
Memorial Stadium buzzed as Rhule and company showed a strong performance.
Highlights of Nebraska cruised over Shedeur Sanders’ Colorado
Nebraska cruised to a 28-10 win over Colorado, powered by a rock-solid defense and a steady showing from quarterback Dylan Raiola, who threw for 185 yards and a touchdown.
The defense came out strong, shutting down Colorado’s offense early by keeping them from gaining any first downs until their fifth drive and holding them to just minus-2 yards in the first quarter.
Ty Robinson led the charge, sacking Colorado’s quarterback Shedeur Sander on their first drive and blocking a 29-yard field goal attempt.
On the offensive side, Dante Dowdell shone with 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Nebraska's only passing touchdown came on a wild play when Colorado linebacker LaVonta Bentley nearly intercepted the ball, only for Rahmir Johnson to grab it for an 18-yard score.
That set the stage for Nebraska's commanding 28-0 lead at halftime, their largest since 2021.
