Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, recognizing the nation's best upperclassman QB, just before the Buffaloes crushed the Oklahoma State Cowboys 52-0 in Week 14 of college football action. Sanders put on a show for the sold-out Folsom Field crowd by tallying 438 yards, resulting in five touchdowns to sign off in style.
On Thursday, it was revealed that the Buffs quarterback, who is headed to the NFL, was awarded the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. This season, he amassed 3,926 yards with a 74.2 percent completion rate, leading to 35 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.
After the announcement, Shedeur reposted a graphic of himself on his Instagram stories.
"Legendary," Shedeur Sanders wrote.
Shedeur Sanders tabbed to be the No. 1 Draft pick
Shedeur Sanders has been tabbed as one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft since the start of last season and his stellar performances for the improved Colorado Buffaloes have boosted his draft stock.
Per ESPN Draft expert Matt Miller in his weekly "Big Draft" column, Sanders is tabbed to be the No. 1 pick just ahead of his Colorado teammate, Heisman-favorite Travis Hunter.
During Wednesday's segment of this week's "Gojo and Golic" show, Yahoo Sports Draft expert Jason Fitz discussed Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis's willingness to pull out all the stops to draft Shedeur.
"In a normal world, I think both of those quarterbacks ( Sanders and Cam Ward) would be mid-late first-round prospects," Fitz said. ... "Mark Davis is going to make Shedeur Sanders his quarterback, so that's their opportunity. (0:46)
"That's what the Raiders do. ... When you're in the same division as Bo Nix and Sean Payton and then Harbaugh and Herbert and obviously Mahomes and Andy Reid, I do think your quarterback evaluation might need to change a little bit."
"The one thing you need to focus on is who has that upside. You don't need a quarterback. You need somebody who will turn into a Mahomes beater. That's gonna take time, patience, development."
The Class of 2025 class features a skilled lineup of quarterbacks, including Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward, Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Texas Longhorns standout Quinn Ewers.
Despite being among such a talented pool of quarterbacks, several draft experts have still mocked Shedeur Sanders to trump them all and become the first QB off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft.
