Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders received some gifts from his potential successor, Julian Lewis, after his final season with the Buffaloes. On Thursday night, Sanders posted an image on his Instagram story, flaunting the presents he got from the five-star CU recruit.
"Thank you @julianlewis10," Sanders wrote on the image of his IG story.
Lewis, named the 2024 Gatorade Georgia Football Player of the Year, committed to Colorado in November, after backing out of his commitment to USC. The high school quarterback from Carrollton also spoke about his decision to work under Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, aka "Coach Prime," during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."
"Of course, it was big for me just coming in after Shedeur, just seeing what he’s done to Colorado and what he’s turned it into," Lewis said. "It’s definitely a blessing getting put into this position coming after him and his dad. I couldn’t beat it."
Lewis also said he plans to enroll at Colorado early in January, so he can acclimatize better to the surroundings in Boulder. He also praised the Buffaloes coach.
"Coach Prime’s always said the best man’s gonna play," Lewis said. "And that’s really what I wanted, was to be able to come in and compete and start as a freshman. I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench."
Since Shedeur is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, Lewis is likely to succeed him as Colorado's starting quarterback next season.

Sanders was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and also won the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award for his impressive outings at CU.
