Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders put on a show for the Buffs fans at Folsom Field in the team's last home game of the season. Sanders went 34-of-41 for 438 yards, resulting in five touchdowns in Colorado's 52-0 rout of the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
During the game, it was announced that Sanders had won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given to the best upperclassman quarterback in the country.
In a postgame video posted on Colorado's Instagram account, the NFL-bound Sanders signed off with a message to Buffs nation.
"Last game at Folsom. It was legendary," Shedeur Sanders said. Thank you to everybody for coming out. Let's get it."
Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Oklahoma vs. Colorado game was significant for Shedeur and Heisman-contending Travis Hunter because NFL scouts were in attendance.
"Several NFL teams in attendance today to see Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter’s final home game at Colorado," Schultz tweeted. "Says one NFL executive: “Not only are they both going top five in the draft, but I believe they’re going 1-2, back-to-back. Should that occur, it would be the first time in 25 years — when Penn State had the first two picks in Courtney Brown and LaVar Arrington."
Coach Prime walks Shilo & Shedeur Sanders out for Senior Day
Charismatic Colorado coach Deion Sanders walked his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, out for the Senior Day ceremony at Folsom Field. Coach Prime was emotional during his news conference when talking about the game against Oklahoma being his sons's last game at Folsom Field.
"It's kind of emotional," Deion Sanders said. "My last time at home with several of my kids and my seniors, man, it's tough. It's tough on a coach who loves his kids. Tough man. I can't even explain the emotions...This is a tough game, but we're gonna overcome adversity."
It might not be the last time that Shedeur and Travis Hunter dress up for Colorado after the Buffs clinched bowl eligibility earlier in the season. During his weekly news conference, Coach Prime confirmed that the two prospects would play in the program's bowl game.
"No, we got a bowl game," Coach Prime said. "It’s not the last time you’re gonna see them in a Buff uniform."
Despite playing at Colorado for two seasons, Shedeur Sanders - who finished the regular season with 3,926 yards - broke the program's single-season passing record held by Roy Detmer (3,527 yards) for 28 years. This showed Shedeur's impact at the program during his career in Boulder.
