It's a New season but the same problems for the Colorado Buffaloes as Shedeur Sanders and Colorado are struggling in their rivalry game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers over at Lincoln. The Colorado signal-caller is facing a problem he knows all too well: sacks. In just the first quarter, he got sacked three times by the Cornhuskers.
Fans were quick to react, bringing up the most imaginative jokes on X. Some mocked the O-line which supposedly Deion Sanders rebuilt in the off-season to avoid:
Not only has the O-line not afforded Shedeur Sanders any protection, but the signal-caller has gone five out of 10, with only 36 passing yards and one interception.
The Colorado hype train has seemingly hit a rock in against the Cornhuskers with the Buffs trailing 28-0 at halftime. Our prayers are with everyone who betted on the Buffs:
With Shedeur Sanders being sacked and negative rushing yards for the Buffs, fans feel like it's 2023 all over again:
Or maybe Deion Sanders is angry:
One fan mocked the Buffs for being marketable but not very competitive:
Another fan speculated about Deion Sanders' future after the early showing in the game:
Shedeur Sanders sacked again as history repeats itself
There's been much talk about Shedeur Sanders potentially being a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, there's a number in Shedeur's record that might raise some alarms in the heads of GMs in the NFL. That would be the number of sacks Shedeur had in 2023.
Last season the Colorado Buffaloes signal-caller was sacked 52 times, the most of any quarterback in the nation. While much of that was due to the lack of protection he was given by the offensive line, when the numbers are that high one has to start wondering about the players' mobility outside the pocket, and his awareness of the blitz.
It is not a single-season problem either, at Jackson State Shedeur Sanders was also sacked plenty of times. In 2021 he was sacked 35 times and 23 times in 2022.
