"Shedeur Sanders showed that he's capable of operating at a high level": Anonymous NFL Scouts analyze hype around Coach Prime's son

Anonymous NFL scouts heaped praise on Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Shedeur is the son of Deion Sanders and has shown flashes of dominance in college football. However, a knock on him has been his personality, as some analysts have been critical of his off-field behavior.

However, NFL scouts are sold on Shedeur Sanders as they believe he is a special player.

“When they actually protected him, you just simply can't teach the poise that that kid plays with,” one AFC scout said to ESPN. “They crumbled after those first few games, but in those first games, Shedeur showed that he's capable of operating at a high level when he has time.”

One NFC scout believes if Shedeur is behind a capable offensive line, he can be dominant, but he does need to mature a little bit.

"Watching that Oregon game, he didn't have a chance behind that group," an NFC area scout who covers the West Coast area said. "There are some things that come with him, but I believe he has a chance to be special if he matures in some areas."

Although some scouts like Shedeur's play, one NFL assistant GM said when Colorado played better teams with legit NFL players, he struggled.

"I like what he showed early on, but once they played like Oregon, UCLA, and those teams that have legit Sunday players, I thought a lot of his weaknesses showed up," an assistant NFL general manager said.

Sanders went 298-for-430 for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three touchdowns last season.

Where is Shedeur Sanders projected to be drafted?

Shedeur Sanders will be in the 2025 NFL draft and is projected to be a first-round pick.

In ESPN's mock draft which was posted on July 2, it had Shedeur Sanders being drafted second overall, and the second quarterback off the board after Carson Beck.

The 33rd Team's mock draft had Shedeur being selected eighth overall, so many expect the Buffaloes quarterback to be a top-10 pick.

However, on the odds, DraftKings has Sanders favored to be the first overall pick at +400, which implies a 20% chance of it happening.

Regardless, Shedeur will hear his name called early in the 2025 NFL draft and could even be a Day 1 starter in the NFL.
