Despite all the controversies surrounding the team, Jim Harbaugh led the Michigan Wolverines to the National Championship title in 2023. Michigan finished the season with a thriller matchup against Nick Saban's Alabama and an impressive 15-0 record.
That was later inked on former coach Jim Harbaugh's arm, owing to his promise ahead of the season. After the season, Harbaugh moved on to coach in the NFL and passed the torch to Michigan's current coach, Sherrone Moore.
In a conversation with college football analyst Joel Klatt, Moore reminisced about Michigan's successful season last year and credited it to the team's bonding and closeness:
"I think there's just a love, a connection, a bond, that was unbreakable that you couldn't, you couldn't break, you can do whatever you want. You can talk to about them however you want, to but like the love the connection that everybody had in this building was deeper than anything and they just felt like they could not be stopped.
"It was a juggernaut, just ready to go every game. Any adversity thrown their way they were ready to break it. And it was something I've never been a part of."
Anonymous Big Ten coach's advice for Michigan coach Sherrone Moore
With limited coaching experience, Sherrone Moore will face the spotlight in the 2024 college football season.
Fans will be interested to see how the team continues its momentum after losing big names like Jim Harbaugh, J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum, along with 11 other NFL draft picks.
An anonymous Big Ten coach had some sound advice for Sherrone Moore for the upcoming season:
“The trick for Sherrone (Moore) is to keep the momentum of a national championship culture through all the roster turnover. I think you’ll see a lot of familiar (Jim) Harbaugh practices and ideas this first season because they’ve got to rebuild before they can put a new signature on the program."
The coach added:
"They’re basically turning over the entire offense, and they need to find some receiver talent for whoever wins that starting job at QB. …. This is going to be a massive transition even though they kept on the interim from last year. They’ll take a step back, but maybe not as far as you think.”
