Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has continued to steer the No. 1 Ducks through an unbeaten season. He registered 290 yards resulting in two touchdowns and one interception in their Week 8, 35-0 demolition of the Purdue Boilermakers.

Gabriel has revived his case for the Heisman Trophy with his recent form. Off the gridiron, the talented athlete got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Zoe Caswell in September, and has been enjoying her support at all his games in Eugene. On Wednesday, Caswell showed off her game-day fit for the Ducks' Week 9 clash against the No. 20 Illinois Fighting Illini on her Instagram stories.

She put up a snap of a customized black puffer jacket with "Gabriel" stenciled on the back:

"So good," Caswell wrote.

Zoe Caswell followed Dillon Gabriel to Oregon

Zoe Caswell was a regular at Oklahoma Sooners games when Dillon Gabriel was the QB1 for coach Brent Venables. Naturally, when the quarterback joined coach Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks, she followed him to Eugene.

With Gabriel's replacement, Jackson Arnold struggling to lead the Sooners' offense, the circumstances around his departure have been widely scrutinized.

During his pregame Red River rivalry news conference, Brent Venables revealed why Gabriel departed the program:

"I did not know at that time that he (Gabriel) wasn't going to go to the NFL. ... I didn't even know I had to fight this fight," Venables said. "I didn't even realize that you were even considering coming back. And he says, 'Yeah, but I just want to get closer to home'. We hugged and shook hands. He was a little emotional and I was. It was all really good and positive."

Venables emphasized Gabriel's disappointing feedback from NFL executives and his wish to play closer to home as the reasons for the quarterback's unexpected departure from Oklahoma.

"You can't make a guy stay," Venables said. "The guy (Dillon Gabriel) is trying to find the next thing; the next chapter for him. I'm sure there was probably some disappointment that [Gabriel] wasn't more highly thought of in the NFL. He had an amazing year. He was a fantastic quarterback. But we didn't run anybody off or things like that."

Dillon Gabriel is thriving in Dan Lanning's team in Eugene and has led the Oregon Ducks to an unbeaten start to the season. They are seen as favorites for the conference championship game and one of the coveted college football playoff spots.
