Shedeur Sanders had soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic on episode 16 of his "2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders" show on Tuesday. His older brother Deion Sanders Jr. also appeared on the show and had a fruitful conversation with the former AC Milan striker.
One thing that Shedeur and Zlatan discussed in depth was their tactics for dealing with the criticism and hate that they get. Ibrahimovic talked in depth about how he used negative criticism to fuel his motivation and develop himself into a better athlete on the field.
"I took it as fuel because I use it as fuel to do more, not to become aggressive physically but to put it in myself and I train hard and I just wanted to show everybody that I was better than everybody," Zlatan said. (6:20 onwards) "So I took it out on the field and sometimes was successful sometimes was failure. But failure is part of the success, because if you don't fail, you don't learn."
"I did a lot of mistakes.... I did a lot of stupid things. But that was part that I learned from and I took it further and then obviously nobody's perfect. I was just being myself and I thought I did everything in the right way. But sometimes I hit the wall, I went down, I screwed up and I kept going. But I was strong when it came to all the hate and negativity."
Shedeur Sanders is no exception to hate and negative criticism. When he joined Colorado last year, he received a lot of backlash after a disappointing 4-8 season. Shedeur kept his cool and now, the Buffs have qualified for their first bowl game since the 2020 season and are on the verge of creating history as potential conference champions.
Deion Sanders shares his expectations from son Shedeur Sanders' draft
The Colorado QB decided to forego the 2024 NFL draft and play one more season of college football. Shedeur is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
On Tuesday, Deion Sanders made an appearance on "Speak" on FS1. The Colorado head coach explained in detail the expectations he has from his son's draft and the type of team that would suit Shedeur's professional career.
"Someone that can handle the quarterback that he is," Coach Prime said. "Somebody that can handle, understanding that what he's capable of. Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks, or someone in an organization understands what they're doing. Not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves. (1:08)
Before Shedeur Sanders can begin his professional journey in the NFL, he will love to end his college career on a positive note with Colorado. It will be interesting to see if he can help the Buffs emerge as potential conference champions and contest for the national championship this season.
