While guiding Texas to a No. 1 ranking, coach Steve Sarkisian is also a proud father by his son Brady Sarkisian appearing in a college football game this season. Brady is a walk-on linebacker who did not see any game time last season but made his debut against the Colorado State Rams in Week 1 when the coach emptied the bench.

He played his most significant snaps of the season in the fourth quarter of the Longhorns' 56-7 demolition of the UTSA Roadrunners in Week 3 of college football action.

After the Longhorns' decisive 34-3 win over Red River rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 7, Brady hyped up Texas star Jordan Washington on Instagram after the tight end posted a series of pictures from the Cotton Bowl after the win.

Brady commented:

Brady Sarkisian made his father proud

After the game against the UTSA Roadrunners, Steve Sarkisian was hyped about his son's appearance in the game and he showed it while speaking to UT radio broadcasters Roger Wallace and Craig Way joking with them about Brady Sarkisian.

“I hope you guys credited him (Brady) with something,” Sarkisian said to Craig Way and Roger Wallace.

When Craig Way revealed that he had come up with a cool nickname (B. Sark) for the coach's son, the elder Sarkisian was delighted and revealed the emotions that he felt when his son took to the field for the first time.

“I love that,” Steve said. “That’s great.”
“When he (Brady Sarkisian) got in tonight, I took my headset off, and I played dad for about three plays,” Steve Sarkisian said. “I just watched my son play football at the University of Texas. That was really awesome.”

The Texas coach revealed that Brady Sarkisian does not ask to be substituted but rather, his position coach Johnny Nansen lobbies on his behalf.

“No, he doesn't, but his (position) coach does. Johnny Nansen does,” Steve said. “He’ll say, ‘I gotta get Brady in there,’ I said, hey, when the time’s right. But it was cool. It was a very cool moment as a dad, obviously.”

Brady Sarkisian played for Corona Del Mar High School, California before becoming a preferred walk-on in 2022 at the same program where his father was the coach although he did not play at all as a freshman.

Brady played as an edge rusher and linebacker in high school registering 33 tackles with 11 for loss and five sacks during his senior year. Now, he's part of a team contending for the conference and national championships.
