The Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has a reputation for developing the talents of gifted players. He is set to lead the Longhorns into what could be a standout season for the program. He will be doing this with a member of his family in the team.
Brady Sarkisian, Steve's son, committed to his father's program as a walk-on in late 2022. He was recently pictured working out with the team in preparation for the 2024 season. Some of these pictures were posted on Instagram by Brady.
Brady Sarkisian committed to his father's program after receiving offers from both Arkansas State and the Marshall Herd.
He graduated from Corona Del Mar High School in California in 2023, where he played in the linebacker position. During his final season in high school, he recorded 33 tackles, with 11 of them for loss and five sacks.
Sarkisian was barely ranked by any of the major publications but was able to receive two offers from division one colleges. However, he rejected both of them to play with his father's team.
Steve Sarkisian spoke in 2023 about having his son participate in practices led by himself. He told On3.com:
“Very cool moment. ... It’s interesting, we assign seats in the team meeting room, and our operations people do that. I don’t necessarily assign those seats. He’s like front and center, four rows back, right in the middle. Last night, when we were going through our philosophy, our style and things, I must have looked up and saw him 10 times. He must have thought I was lecturing at home.
“Very cool moment. That’s one of the cool things about what you get to do in this profession, that’s one of them: to have your son on your team and be around him every day."
So far, Brady has not played a game for the Longhorns, but he could make his debut in the 2024 season.
Which Texas players may lead Steve Sarkisian to a national championship in 2024?
It is not only Brady Sarkisian that head coach Steve Sarkisian is focusing on as his program comes into the 2024 season.
The Texas Longhorns are coming off an impressive 2023 season. It gave them their last Big 12 conference championship and their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoffs. This run was mostly spearheaded by quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is one of the many players to return to Austin for 2024.
Additionally, while the program did lose the likes of Xavier Worthy and Adornai Mitchell to the NFL, Texas have replaced them with like-for-like players. One of these is former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Isaiah Bond.
All of these highly skilled players will come together to make the Texas Longhorns one of the better teams in their debut season of the SEC. They will also be a competitor for the national championship in 2024.
