Steve Sarkisian surprises Texas superfan Glen Powell on his first Golden Globe nomination with special message

Steve Sarkisian's Texas Longhorns have many fans from the entertainment world. Actor Matthew McConaughey, the touted "Minister of Culture," may top the list, but Glen Powell is also an avid fan of the school, which is on the cusp of entering the national championship game. The Longhorns face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the upcoming Friday night Cotton Bowl, a gateway to enter the title game.

On Sunday, Powell, who earned his first Golden Globe nomination for his role in Richard Linklater's "Hit Man," received a big shoutout from Sarkisian.

"Just wanted to congratulate you on your first Golden Globe nomination, man, that's big time. Always appreciate your support of the Longhorns buddy, and hook 'em, man," Sarkisian said in a recorded video.

The video got the actor excited and beaming with pride while gesturing his support for the program.

"I would be more starstruck to be meeting Sark than anyone in this room," Powell said after the video ended.

Texas AD replies to Steve Sarkisian NFL rumors

With the NFL's first Black Monday, several coaching vacancies were created. While coaching in college football is much different than in the professional league, several have changed their status in the past.

In the wake of Texas entering the CFP semifinals, Steve Sarkisian is getting tied to several NFL vacancies. However, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte believes it's "fodder" before the big game.

“We’ve got a game to play,” said Del Conte, per Bohls. “I’m not going to comment. Somebody’s just creating fodder before our biggest game. That’s stupid.”

Whether or not there's any genuine weight to this coaching rumor remains to be seen. At the moment, Steve Sarkisian has a massive game coming up against the Buckeyes, who are coming off crushing the top-seed Oregon Ducks in the CFP quarterfinals.
