Daylen Everette, the standout cornerback for the Georgia Bulldogs, has officially announced his decision to return for the 2025 college football season.
Taking to social media to share the big news, Everette expressed gratitude to his family, teammates and coaches, alongside a heartfelt acknowledgment of his faith. He said:
“A big thank you to my coaches that have helped guide and mentor me on this journey. Most importantly, I’d like to thank God for helping me make a decision.”
“But with a chance to earn my degree from the University of Georgia and wear the Red & Black one more season, I still have some unfinished business as a DAWG!!! DGD”
The news comes as a big boost for the Bulldogs, as Everette aims to complete his degree while continuing his stellar college football career. The Bulldogs have lost quite a few members of their defense this offseason to the draft and the portal.
Daylen Everette’s return to Georgia: A look back at his remarkable season
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Everette had an exceptional junior year in 2024. He led the Bulldogs with three interceptions and delivered standout performances, especially against the Texas Longhorns.
Across two games against Texas, Everette recorded nine tackles, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, a pass deflection, two interceptions and a sack. His efforts earned him MVP honors in the SEC Championship, solidifying his reputation as a game-changer.
Everette’s season stats included 58 tackles, three interceptions, three pass deflections and one sack.
Everette’s return is a massive win for the Bulldogs, especially as they prepare for life without several key defensive contributors. His experience and playmaking ability will anchor Georgia’s defense in 2025.
Beyond Everette, Georgia’s cornerback depth remains strong. Daniel Harris, who emerged as a starter late in the season, is expected to play a bigger role.
While Julian Humphrey transferred to Texas A&M, talented freshmen Ellis Robinson and DeMello Jones showed promise during the 2024 season and will likely compete for more playing time.
NFL draft prospects
Despite being ranked as the No. 100 prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft by Pro Football Focus, Everette has chosen to delay his professional career.
His return gives Georgia a reliable cornerback for the upcoming season, and it offers him the opportunity to potentially elevate his draft stock to first-round status in 2026.
In his three-year college career, Everette has started 28 games, amassing 100 total tackles and four interceptions. His decision to stay surprised some, given his NFL potential, but it underscores his commitment to Georgia and his desire to achieve more in college football.
