Former Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman shared a blunt take on Travis Hunter’s NFL potential, indicating concerns about his ability to play both ways at the professional level.

Last week, on the "St. Brown Podcast," Sherman said that Hunter might struggle with fatigue in the NFL, and teams could use that against him. However, Hunter wasn’t having it and fired back on Instagram:

"Stop speaking on me. Let me play football," he wrote.

The Super Bowl champion had also called Hunter a "bland" receiver, sparking more debate.

“As a receiver he’s kinda bland,” Sherman said.
“I think he goes as a corner just because receivers his size … he’s not a special size, super dynamic route runner.
"He’s a great athlete and he’s smooth so he can get it done. I’m sure if he focused on receiver he could be elite, but as a corner, he just looks natural,” he added.

Travis Hunter is already leading the nation in total snaps played this season (532) and ranks among the top 20 at both positions, according to PFF.

Through four games, he’s made 37 catches for 472 yards and five touchdowns on offense, while adding 13 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and three pass breakups on defense.

Former USC Heisman winner Matt Leinart believes Colorado's Travis Hunter deserves the coveted honor over any other quarterback.

According to Leinart, Hunter is exceptional on both sides of the ball. He’s an outstanding corner.

“He’s the best football player in America,” Leinart said. “I don’t think there’s a debate for what he does. And if he’s not on that team, even Shedeur [Sanders] because Shedeur is a baller too.
“They single handily beat teams, like those two players, it’s unbelievable how bad they are in some other areas. He's a stud man, I'm telling you it's not a gimmick,” he added.

Leinart also touched on Hunter’s NFL potential.

“But Prime made a good point he's like ‘Man, in the NFL, it's a slower game anyway, one, there's not as many snaps,'” he said. “So Prime thinks he could play both sides in the NFL, I don't know. It's a different beast.”

As Colorado gears up for their next game against UCF, Hunter remains a must-watch player, and his Heisman chances are very much alive.
