The Syracuse Orange traveled cross-country to Berkley on Saturday to take on the California Golden Bears in a Week 12 Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.
The Orange entered the clash with a solid 6-3 record (3-3 in ACC matchups). Syracuse was coming off a tough 37-31 loss versus Boston College in its last game.
The Golden Bears, on the other hand, brought a 4-5 record (1-4 ACC) into this clash. Cal was coming off a 46-36 win over Wake Forest, its first conference win as a member of the ACC.

The Orange dominated the first half, taking a 27-7 lead at halftime. Syracuse nearly doubled Cal's yardage offensively and controlled the time of possession, spending over 21 minutes on offense. The Bears' defense had no answer for Kyle McCord and Syracuse's high-octane offense.
Syracuse staved off a comeback effort from Cal in the second half. The Golden Bears outscored the Orange 18-6, but the Orange held on to secure a 33-25 win, running out the clock following a late touchdown from Cal. The Orange outgained the Bears offensively and possessed the ball for 17 minutes longer.

Syracuse opened the game with a 24-yard field goal, taking a 3-0 lead. The Orange forced a stop and kicked a second field goal to extend their lead to 6-0.
Cal forced an interception and capitalized with a 30-yard touchdown scamper from LeQuint Allent, taking a 13-0 lead in the opening minutes of the second half.
The Golden Bears responded with a 75-yard touchdown run from Jaivian Thomas, cutting Syracuse's lead to 13-7. The Orange maintained their momentum with a nine-play, 75-yard drive to extend their lead to 20-7.
After forcing a punt, Syracuse posted another eight-play, 70-yard touchdown drive to take a 27-7 lead into the locker rooms.
Cal opened the second half with a 14-play, 93-yard drive capped off by a 15-yard touchdown scamper from Jadyn Ott, cutting the lead to 27-14. Syracuse responded on the ensuing drive with a 43-yard field goal to extend its lead to 30-14.
After exchanging punts, Cal capitalized with a 44-yard field goal to open the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 30-17. With 3:12 remaining, Syracuse kicked a 32-yard field goal to extend its lead to 33-17. Cal responded on its ensuing drive with a five-yard touchdown pass from Fernando Mendoza to Jonathan Brady. The Orange ran out the remaining time on the clock, securing a 33-25 win.
