Retired Alabama coach Nick Saban's daughter Kristen Saban has remained a staunch supporter of the Crimson Tide despite a difficult season under coach Kalen DeBoer. Kristen has retained her reputation as a die-hard college football fan even after her father retired in January.
On Sunday, she posted since-deleted clips of herself on her Instagram stories showing off her new outfit during Thanksgiving with her family, including her mother, Terry Saban.
Some Alabama fans made fun of her walking style, leading to Kristen Saban initially opting to stop posting any personal content, a message that she shared via her Instagram stories.
Later on, she amended her statement and instead promised to press on by holding a sale from her extensive wardrobe, the proceeds of which will be donated to an anti-bullying cause.
"It's really disappointing to see such hateful comments from a fan base I thought as friends/family for the last 17 years over an outfit and the way I walk (I have had an Achilles injury/abnormality since birth)," Kristen said. "For my own sanity, I am stepping away from sharing anything football/family related. Thank God for retirement.
"Actually, you know what? It takes more than this to hurt my feelings. I plan to do a big Alabama game day outfits Poshmark sale soon and the earnings will go to an anti-bullying group. Thank you so much."
Kristen Saban once detailed the difficulty of being Nick Saban's daughter
The latest episode of bullying aimed towards Kristen Saban is not the first time that she has gotten backlash for being the daughter of a famous father. She was in the headlines earlier this year due to her domestic situation with her ex-husband Adam Setas.
During a May interview on the "Next Round" podcast, she detailed the difficulty that comes with being Nick Saban's daughter.
"I think it was more difficult in college. In high school, I was still kind of figuring it out, but it was just a lot," Kristen said. "I'm still kind of looking back and I don't know why people cared so much what I did or said. But I'm very vocal, so I kind of put myself in positions sometimes but it's scary and it's a lot. People just wanna know everything, and it's kinda weird." (9:30)
Kristen further revealed the difficulty she faced when trying to make friends, as some people were only attracted to her status as the daughter of the now-retired Nick Saban.
"Yeah, it took me a while to kind of figure that out and in high school, maybe, my senior year is when I kinda started realizing what people's intentions were," Kristen said. ... "But I kind of figured out who wanted the best for me and who was actually there for me through things that I went through when I was younger. It just kinda sucks at the same time."
Despite the challenges that she has faced being in the spotlight, Kristen Saban has continued to ferociously support the Alabama Crimson Tide. This has endured during the bad moments and even under new coach Kalen DeBoer.
