Offensive Guard Tate Ratledge has been a part of the Georgia Bulldogs since 2020. Coming out of Darlington High School, Ratledge has been a key part of Kirby Smart's O-line and has won two consecutive national championships during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
However, Ratledge suffered an injury during Georgia's 13-12 victory against Kentucky. So what is the update on the offensive guard?
Tate Ratledge injury update
According to head coach Kirby Smart, he is unsure of the severity of Ratledge's injury.
"Don't know," Smart said in the post-game press conference. "I was told ankle and knee, but I don't know which is worse or how bad it is. I don't know much about it." (2:07 onwards)
This is not the first time that Tate Ratledge has injured himself during his Georgia career. He was named a starter on the team during his sophomore season in 2021. However, during the season-opener against Clemson, Ratledge suffered a Lisfranc ligament fracture and was sidelined for the rest of the season.
Ratledge then had a smooth sailing time during the last two seasons with the Bulldogs. Last season, he was honored as a First-Team All-SEC for his excellent performance for the Bulldogs. As Smart's team enters the bye week before their showdown against Alabama, fans will be with bated breath for more information on Ratledge's injury.
What happened to Tate Ratledge?
During Georgia's showdown against the Kentucky Wildcats, the offensive guard injured his leg with over nine minutes left in the second quarter of the game. He was assisted by two Georgia staff members to the injury tent on the sideline.
After evaluating his injury, Ratledge was carted off the field to the locker room. He then returned after halftime in his street clothes along with a boot and a brace on his injured leg. He was replaced by Micah Morris for the rest of the game.
With their three-year starter injured, Kirby Smart will have to make some adjustments to his O-line if Ratledge is not healed ahead of their showdown against the Crimson Tide.
Will the Bulldogs be able to maintain their winning momentum if Ratledge is sidelined for rehabilitation?
