The Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) will host the No. 8 LSU Tigers (5-1, 2-0 SEC) this weekend in a crucial Week 8 SEC clash. The Razorbacks could be without their star quarterback Taylen Green.

On Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman offered some insight into his quarterback's injury and his status ahead of this weekend's matchup versus LSU.

"I have been encouraged about how [Taylen Green] has practiced. He's still not full-speed yet, but we certainly think there's a possibility that he can get there. We'll have to wait and see there. Obviously we'll have two more practices and then a walk, but have been encouraged about his progression this week (1:40 mark)."

Sam Pittman sounded optimistic about Green returning in time for Arkansas' matchup versus an elite LSU team this weekend. The Tigers are feeling good, coming off a top 10 win over Ole Miss last weekend, topping the Rebels 29-26 in Baton Rouge. LSU has won five in a row entering their Week 8 matchup versus the Razorbacks.

What happened to Taylen Green?

Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green suffered a knee injury in the Razorbacks' 19-14 upset over Tennessee in Week 6, their first over a top 5 team since 2007.

However, Green was taken down by his legs by a Tennessee defender, resulting in a bone bruise. He, however, avoided a significant injury or tear to his knee and ligaments.

Taylen Green completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts versus the Volunteers, throwing for 266 yards without a touchdown or interception. Green is in his first season with the Razorbacks after transferring from Boise State following the 2023 season.

In six games, Green has completed 56.6% of his passes for 1,502 yards and five touchdowns with five interceptions. He is also dangerous as a runner, adding 326 yards and four touchdowns on the ground so far this season.

Green will eye a return ahead of Arkansas' Week 8 matchup as the Razorbacks look for a second-straight upset win in front of their home crowd in Fayetteville.
