The TCU Horned Frogs released their new uniforms for the upcoming season on Monday. The uniforms will be white, black and purple jerseys, the same colors they have always had.
The helmets unveiled included one with silver chrome embossed with the TCU letters on the logo, and a purple patterned helmet with a silver frog emblem representing the program.
The custom diamonds that usually line the collars of the Horned Frogs' uniforms were removed from the latest designs.
The TCU Horned Frogs will start next season with an away game against the Stanford Cardinal on August 30. Their first home game will be against Long Island University on September 7.
Sonny Dykes promises TCU evaluation for next season
The TCU Horned Frogs had a disappointing 2023 season with a woeful 5-7 record a year after they reached the national championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Horned Frogs claimed an unwanted statistic and became the first side since the Texas Longhorns in 2010 to reach the national championship game and have a losing record the following season.
During a spring practice news conference, coach Sonny Dykes promised to evaluate the program after a disappointing 2023 season.
"Any time you have the kind of kind of year that we had and the kind of expectations that we have as a program and you don't meet them, then you've got to evaluate everything," Dykes said. "And you do it anyway, but you've certainly got to do it. I'll take a look at everything we're doing. From what we're eating in the pregame meal to who's calling plays."
There are already changes underway for the program, with new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos appointed after a three-year stint as head coach of the Boise State Broncos.
However, there are some concerns regarding the starting signal caller with expected QB1 Josh Hoover missing spring practice due to injury.
Coach Sonny Dykes revealed what he hopes to achieve with the team next year in the Big 12 and in the college football playoff picture.
"A lot of confidence in our players that we're going to be a contender in the Big 12 moving forward. That's our goal, is to year in, year out, be one of those teams that people talk about getting into the 12-team playoff. That's the expectation for this program. We certainly didn't reach them this year, but that's what we're going to try to do moving forward," Dykes said.
TCU fans will hope that coach Sonny Dyke's evaluation sees another surprise next season, akin to their strong performance in 2022 when the Horned Frogs competed successfully against elite college football teams.
