Coach Prime bid farewell to one of his top offensive linemen in the 2024 college football season. On Saturday, Kahlil Benson announced he would transfer to Indiana after spending one season in Colorado.

Benson primarily served as Colorado's right guard in 2024, accumulating 318 snaps across seven games. Additionally, he demonstrated versatility by contributing at left guard in two games and right tackle in another two games.

The offensive lineman penned a heartfelt message on X to bid farewell to everyone within the program.

“Big Thanks To Coach Prime Coach Phil Loadholt And The Staff For Letting Me Showcase My Talents And To Be A Dominate Player,” Benson tweeted. “Also, The Guys On The Team For Keeping Me Motivated Always Remember To Believe And Never Stop Competing. Love Y’all, Will Always Be Family."

Deion Sanders, who was emotional about the unexpected exit of the offensive lineman, gave a cheeky response.

“Love ya my man and tell mama she can still cook even tho u dipped on me,” Sanders tweeted. “Lololol I’m gon miss ya man.”

What Coach Prime's Colorado offensive line looks like following Kahlil Benson’s exit

Colorado’s offensive line improved in the 2024 college football season compared to 2023. However, the room needs more improvements to offer the right protection for the quarterback.

After Benson's exit, the Buffaloes’ offensive line depth has taken a massive hit. He was one of the most crucial players in the group in 2024, and his departure is bound to create some challenges for a room that is finding its feet within the team's setup.

Coach Prime is, however, set to welcome a new set of offensive linemen to the team next season. The Buffaloes have added Aki Ogunbiyi and Carter Miller from the transfer portal, while Carde Smith and Chauncey Gooden will join as part of the Class of 2025.

Last season, the true freshman duo of Jordan Seaton and Cash Cleveland played a crucial role for Colorado. Following their superb impact, most media houses called them true freshman All-Americans. They are expected to take on larger roles in 2025.

While Benson’s exit is a big loss for Coach Prime and his team, the team still boasts significant depth in the offensive line room next season. It's up to offensive line coach Phil Loadholt to get the best out of his players in the upcoming college football season.
