On Wednesday, Former football punter Pat McAfee announced that he will be returning to College GameDay for a second season. It was definitely something that people were expecting but the news surrounding the official decision made some fans less than excited.
People took to X (formerly Twitter) to display their displeasure of the decision for Pat McAfee to return to College GameDay every Saturday during the college football season.
"He doesn't fit on college game day in my opinion," one fan said.
Some fans said that they are not going to be watching College GameDay as a result of McAfee's return to the program.
"My least favorite cast member by far. I think he's obnoxious. Fox pregame for me this year!" one fan said.
"Don't matter, already flipped [to Big Noon Kickoff]. SEC pep rally got old on the ESECPN," another fan said.
"I've been a Fox Big Noon guy for several years now. Way better." Someone else posted
While Pat McAfee certainly also has his supporters, his brand and appeal are certainly different from the other members of the College GameDay crew, which turns some people off from his analysis. The contract was not officially signed as of last month but the chemistry that the show developed over the course of last season can continue to grow.
What has Pat McAfee said about College GameDay?
Pat McAfee has discussed his excitement about being part of the College GameDay cast but dislikes the negativity that surrounds it in the eyes of college football fans.
"It's like, these college football fans are awesome, they're phenomenal, they're incredibly passionate. But man, that negaivity - normally when I get dropped into a new show like the WWE, that negativity is like three months. They hate my life... How about this, I'm back. I don't love it. I don't love that my life is just going to contnue to have people telling me to run into oncoming traffic, swallow a barrel," McAfee said. h/t On3
McAfee also stressed that he is a team player. It will be interesting to see how College GameDay looks this upcoming season nonetheless.
