This weekend, the Texas Longhorns face the Vanderbilt Commodores. After last week's defeat to the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian will want to win this game and keep his playoff dreams alive.

But Sarkisian knows that the Commodores, who have been one of the season's biggest surprises, will not be an easy game. He told the media on Thursday:

"All they know is this is a top 25 matchup on the road with a sellout crowd. We know the challenge we're faced with, what's on tape, and what they look like."

This will be the first game between the Longhorns and the Commodores since 1928, a game which Vanderbilt won, 13-12.

This was played during the period when Vanderbilt football was one of the best teams in all of college football.

Nearly 100 years later, the Commodores are experiencing a small revival. They come into their game with the Longhorns as a ranked team (No. 25) for the first time since the end of the 2013 season.

Helped by an iconic victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, followed by convincing wins over the Kentucky Wildcats and Ball State, the Commodores have shed their reputation of being an easy win, and now no team is safe.

This, paired with the struggling performance of the Longhorns in their game against Georgia, means that there is a possibility that Diego Pavia could be able to deliver another upset win over one of college football's premier teams.

Steve Sarkisian responds to the Texas bottle throwing incident

Sarkisian also gave his opinion on the Longhorns fans throwing bottles onto the field during the third quarter of the game against Georgia.

The Longhorns fans were angry about a call made by the officials that, upon the review and protest, was overturned. Yet, Sarkisian was critical about the ways some Texas fans conducted themselves in this event.

"I know that we've got a passionate fanbase, and I think that showed Saturday night. I think we were all a little upset in that moment. I just think that we've all gotta use a little discretion in moments like that that we don't want that to be the narrative that that's what DKR is all about," Sarkisian said.

In the days following this incident, Texas has banned some fans that have been identified as being involved on the incident , as well as the university itself being fined $250,000.

The Texas head coach will hope that a repeat of last week's events, both on and off the field, will not happen against Vanderbilt this week.
