Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning? This is the question that’s been troubling the Texas Longhorns this season. Ewers is preparing for the Peach Bowl against ASU as the future of the quarterback position in Texas shows no sign of disappearing. On the ‘On3’ YouTube channel, CFB insider CJ Vogel offered his assessment of Ewers.
Arch Manning is waiting in the wings, but Vogel believes Ewers is the man for the job. He said:
"I think Quinn does put you in positions to score points and I do think when you look at the interception, specifically a lot of them are bobbled balls, whatever, it's been somewhat unfortunate for him. In that regard as well so I do think he's done the job of a quarterback which is essentially to put your team in position to score points."
The question of what’s next for Ewers is complex. The Texas QB has stated that he’s focused on the CFP and a potential national championship, but 2025 NFL Draft speculations are also making the rounds.

Ewers’ future is up in the air. He hasn't declared for the 2025 NFL Draft yet, with his draft stock taking a hit. If Ewers opts to stay in college, he might be benched in favor of Arch Manning. According to Pro Football Focus, once a projected first-round pick, he is now considered a potential fourth-round selection.
CFB insider Cody Bellaire, on the ‘On3’ YouTube channel, analyzed Ewers’ 2024 season, explaining why NFL scouts have concerns. He said:
“The thing that I think has shown Quinn Ewers’ limitations this year is the processing, right? Some mistakes. He’s got moments where he’s late on a read, or he doesn’t go through the progression efficiently.”
Bellaire also pointed out a physical change, saying:
“I think Quinn Ewers has lost weight once he got into college,” he added. “There’s a lot of concern from the NFL side. Some guys that I talked to say, ‘Hey, man. I don’t know if this guy’s physically capable of standing in there and taking shots at the next level.'" [33:30]
If Ewers returns to college in 2025, his starting position is not guaranteed. This could force Ewers to enter the transfer portal.
