Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are now going to begin a new journey in arguably the toughest conference of college football. After securing the Big 12 title last season, the Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners are now going to compete with teams like Alabama and Georgia.
As the offseason workout and training continues for the Texas Longhorns, the program's facility is also going through a few minute changes before the new era. In a recent post shared on social media, we see the program's team room getting a new paint job to commemorate their SEC conference transition.
In the video, we see that the corners of the team room have now been painted with the SEC logo in orange. The room also has the 'Texas Fight' slogan painted at the back.
The Austin campus is celebrating its college football program's SEC transition with great pomp and show today. It is hosting a free event filled with food, activities, events and games for its fans.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and the administration of the University of Texas will also commemorate the Longhorns' official inclusion into the SEC at around 8:30 p.m. local time.
Apart from this, Grammy-winning artist Pitbull will be performing for the fans in a free concert. There is also a lineup of several other artists, joining in the celebrations as Steve Sarkisian and his team continue their quest for a national championship as a member of the SEC.
Steve Sarkisian reveals Texas Longhorns' gameplan for debut SEC season
During an interview with Greg McElroy, Steve Sarkisian opened up about the game plan and the checkpoints that he and the Texas Longhorns will be focusing on in SEC.
Sarkisian talked about how their main focus will be to maintain the standard of their game on the gridiron. He also stated that when it comes to certain games in their schedule, they need to avoid distractions in order to have a successful campaign and a shot at a playoff spot.
"We have to focus on what is our standard and what is our standard of play. Not to diminish the opponents but keep the focus on us. And you know, it's made me think about it. I've used this term - be enamored with us. When certain games come onto our schedule, then we have to make sure that we are not getting distracted by our opponent, maybe an Alabama. And focus on what we need to do."
Steve Sarkisian will be looking forward to having a repeat of last season's success. But will he be able to achieve it in his debut SEC season with the Texas Longhorns?
