The Texas Longhorns QB, Quinn Ewers, sported a mullet in the last college football season. His look gained a lot of attention but for the upcoming 2024 campaign, the starting QB has decided to change his overall appearance.
Ewers appeared on the "RG3 and The One" podcast hosted by former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III. There, the former Baylor QB asked Ewers if something compelled him to change his appearance.
"I had never really had a season that had so many ups and downs like it did that first year. I knew something had to change um you know I think I kind of brought that mentality of like just being in high school just kind of being able to go out there...Do whatever, but it's a total different game and it took me a little too long to realize that but I think I learned quick and you know took in stride," said Quinn Ewers (9:37).
"Like I said, I knew I knew something had to change so I started with the hair and uh just decided to chop it off. And then drop weight and kind of get in better shape, get more, you know, I can take hits better and whatnot so just get more comfortable," he added.
RG3 then jokingly asked if Quinn Ewers would ever want to bring back the hairstyle. Although he pondered on the question for a few seconds, he said he can never see himself in a mullet again because it is time-consuming to maintain that hairstyle.
Quinn Ewers had a surprising statement about former Ohio State QB
During the same interview, Robert Griffin III asked Ewers about former Buckeyes QB C.J. Stroud and his comments regarding how the Texas QB made him feel "desrespected".
Quinn Ewers graciously answered the question and gave an account of his experience as a Buckeyes player. He said that he had a positive experience in Columbus and held no hard feelings for the Texans QB.
“I thought it was a good experience. I mean I learned a whole lot through coach Day and that whole quarterback room because we had some good quarterbacks in that room. Just learning from them being, like, the new guy coming in,” Ewers said (8:05).
"I came in the middle of fall camp up there, so that’s like all I knew, that’s what college football was for me, just fall camp. So, going into that was definitely tough and I learned a lot from CJ, like how to prepare for games and whatnot. It was just a good experience but at the end of the day, it just wasn’t the right fit for me," he added.
Quinn Ewers is back on the Longhorns squad and will play for another season. He is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
