Texas Longhorns returning quarterback Quinn Ewers received the distinction of being one of the cover stars for EA Sports College Football 25. He appears alongside Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Travis Hunter and Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards.
In a recent interview with "MMG," Ewers predicted his player rating for the iconic game which will be released on July 19. He also commented on his speed, hoping that it is bumped up to the mid 80s.
"I’m going to be unbiased here,” Ewers said via MMG. “I’m going to go with what I truly think I’m going to be, it will probably be 94-95. I think I’m going to be around a 96 overall."
“Probably my speed,” Ewers said. “I’m telling you. They’re probably going to put me at a 70-something speed. But I think I could sneak up into the 80s if they really got me out there and they saw me run.”
Analyst claims that Arch Manning stepped away for Quinn Ewers in CFB game
Ever since Arch Manning joined the Texas Longhorns as the class of 2023's top-rated recruit, big things have been expected of him, especially since he comes from the famous Manning family.
The only problem has been the presence of Quinn Ewers, who was the established QB1, leaving Manning to wait for his chance while the starter was injured.
There have been calls to install Manning as the QB1, especially after a competent showing in the spring game. It has now emerged that Arch Manning might have also stepped aside to allow Quinn Ewers to be on the cover of College Football 25.
During a recent "DVNR Sports" podcast show, college football analysts Jake Schwanitz and Harrison Wind revealed this piece of information.
"Arch Manning, he is a big name he didn’t want to put into the game,” Schwanitz said. "He gave his reasons. He didn’t want to be a distraction."
“I think this why Quinn Ewers is the starting quarterback for Texas since he is on the cover, I think Arch was doing his boy solid and going 'If I go into the game people will probably be benching Ewers for me, so I am not gonna do that,'” Schwanitz said.
The issue of Quinn Ewers versus Arch Manning is perhaps one of the most intriguing storylines going into next season after Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian revealed that he would let them battle it out for the QB1 spot.
