Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers was recently unveiled as one of the cover stars of the new EA Sports College Football 25. The others gracing the cover in the much-anticipated game include Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter and Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards.
During a recent interview on "MMG," the Texas quarterback revealed the feeling of experiencing the Cotton Bowl Stadium in a different setting without the fans during shoots for the iconic football game.
"The process was pretty cool, I'm glad I got to do it, the Cotton Bowl, you know just the history there it was cool to be there. Definitely different because you're all juiced up whenever you're there for the Cotton Bowl but you kind of get to see it with the stands empty, lots of photos, lots of different parts they wanted us to be in but it's pretty cool to be a part of something like that," Ewers said.
During the interview, Ewers revealed what he thought of his rating in the game:
I’m going to be unbiased here,” Ewers said. “I’m going to go with what I truly think I’m going to be. I think I’m going to be around a 96 overall.
“Probably my speed,” Ewers said. “I’m telling you. They’re probably going to put me at a 70-something speed. But I think I could sneak up into the 80s if they really got me out there and they saw me run.”
Has Quinn Ewers done enough to be on the cover of College Football 25?
Quinn Ewers is one of the most divisive players in college football. He finished last season having thrown for 3,479 yards resulting in 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He had a QBR of 78.3, good for No. 17 among quarterbacks in the country.
The marketable Ewers had a few sensational games including the Longhorns's amazing win against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, throwing for 349 yards resulting in 3 touchdowns.
The young phenom was also picked off in the first two possessions of the Longhorns' 34-30 loss in the Red River Derby against the Oklahoma Sooners and finished with a 55.8% pass completion rate in the semi-final loss to the Washington Huskies.
There were calls during the season to have him benched in favor of former five-star prospect Arch Manning, but coach Steve Sarkisian kept faith in him.
During an anonymous survey conducted by The Athletic with college football insiders, there was a pervading sentiment that the Texas QB was not quite the best quarterback going around in college football.
“I’m not that high on him,” said a DB coach who played Texas last year. “Overhyped. He has a good arm, and he did have a lot of talent around him, but you just see a bunch of stuff where you wonder what he’s doing out there.”
The die is cast now on Quinn Ewers being one of the cover stars even as discourse rages on about the choice to include him.
