The Texas Longhorns and their quarterback, Quinn Ewers, are gearing up for their first year in the Southeastern Conference. Ewers showcased his skills at the Manning Passing Academy, nailing the deep ball challenge and left a lasting impression on fans.
Ewers is heading into his third season as a starter and will be joined by Isaiah Bond, one of the best wide receivers, who transferred from Alabama. Before the season kicks off, a video clip shared on X/Twitter by CJ Vogel, a University of Texas football analyst, showed Ewers during an evening session at the academy.
Surrounded by team officials, media, and fans, Ewers launched a perfect 60-yard pass to a speeding receiver, who made an impressive catch in the end zone. Fans in the stadium loved watching Ewers throw deep passes with precision.
In the meantime, Ewers threw 22 touchdowns and 3,479 yards last season for the Longhorns. His teammate, former Alabama wide receiver Bond, caught 48 passes for 668 yards and four touchdowns. Seeing those performances, analysts are already calling them one of the top duos in college football.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers among the favorites for the 2024 Heisman Trophy
Texas QB Quinn Ewers is among the favorites to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy. The last three winners have found great success in the NFL draft, with Bryce Young going No. 1 overall in 2023, Caleb Williams No. 1 overall in 2024, and Jayden Daniels No. 2 overall in 2024.
Ewers' Texas team made it to the Big 12 title game and the Playoffs last season. He is ranked in the Top 10 Heisman Trophy candidates for 2024, just behind Georgia's Carson Beck, according to On3’s Jesse Simonton. If Ewers wins, he would be the third Longhorn to take home the Heisman Trophy, with Ricky Williams being the last in 1998.
Last year, Texas was 11-1 heading into the 2023 Big 12 championship game. Many analysts believe this Texas team could be a major contender in 2024. Additionally, Texas landed a commitment from five-star quarterback Dia Bell for the 2026 cycle, adding to their strong lineup with Ewers and Arch Manning.
