The Texas Longhorns posted a snap on X on Thursday, featuring their two quarterbacks, Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, as they caught up with Longhorns legend Daniel "Colt" McCoy. The trio posed for a picture together as Ewers and Manning went for the "Horns Up" pose, with the post going viral on social media.

McCoy won several awards during his time in Austin, especially during his senior year in 2009. He then played for several NFL teams, primarily as a backup signal-caller. Now a free agent, McCoy met up with the two Longhorns quarterbacks and must have imparted some wisdom for the upcoming 2024 college football season.

Here is the snap featuring the current Texas QBs Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning with former Longhorn Colt McCoy:

“Catching up with Colt,” the post on X read.

McCoy had a great run in Austin from 2006 to 2009, winning loads of accolades. However, he missed out on winning the Heisman two years in a row. He lost out to Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford in 2008, finishing as the runner-up. He was also the finalist in his senior year in 2009, but Mark Ingram of the Alabama Crimson Tide took it home. McCoy finished third in the voting, behind Toby Gerhart of the Stanford Cardinal.

The Longhorns have a lot of expectations going into the 2024 season, and the centerpiece of that puzzle is Quinn Ewers. Going by his performance last year, the expectations are surely not unfounded. Can he lead them to their first national championship title since 2005?

This wasn't the first time that Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning posed together in the ongoing offseason. Last month, they got together at an NIL collective event at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium along with coach Steve Sarkisian. They met with the contributors of the collective that day. The Texas One Fund shared a snap of the two quarterbacks in the signature Horns Up pose.

“Backstage with the guys,” the organization wrote in a story on Instagram.

Ewers and Manning are battling it out for the Longhorns QB1 spot, creating one of the most intriguing college football storylines of the year. While fans want to see the new generation QB from the famed Manning family on the field, Ewers is one of the best returning signal callers this year.

So while he has the advantage of being a third-year starter, it remains to be seen if his backup will get more chances than he did last season.
