As the No. 1 Texas Longhorns look to their Saturday matchup against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian knows they can't win solely on the arm of quarterback Quinn Ewers.

The two biggest strengths of this Longhorns team have been the wide receiver group and the offensive line. The line has been led by junior offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, one of college football's best players. He has been supported all year on the other side of the line by junior tackle Cameron Williams, while the interior of the line has been led by junior D.J. Campbell.

The receivers group has been led by the one-two punch of juniors Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond. While Golden is good to go, Bond entered the week as questionable due to a "reaggravated" ankle injury. Turns out, the news is better than expected.

According to a tweet from Inside Texas on Thursday, Sarkisian said Bond will be probably for the Southeastern Conference showdown.

Bond, who has 369 yards and three touchdown catches on the season, has been a critical part of Texas' success. With Bond off the field, Golden and senior tight end Gunnar Helm's jobs become more difficult, and those crucial one-on-one matchups in space will be essential for Ewers to drive the Longhorns (6-0, 2-0 SEC) to victory.

Familiar Territory

When Bond played for the Alabama Crimson Tide last year, he caught five passes for 79 yards in their 27-24 victory over Georgia in the SEC championship game. Alabama did not play Georgia in 2022, Bond's freshman year.

This is considered one of the weakest defenses that Georgia (5-1, 3-1) has had under Kirby Smart, so look for Bond to be extremely productive if he gets cleared.
