Following the Week 10 loss to Georgia, Billy Napier leads his Florida team to Austin for another tough test against Texas. The Gators have struggled this season with a 4-4 record. A road game against the impressive Longhorns could further complicate things.

In Monday's media availability, Napier offered his views on his opponent this weekend. The Longhorns have been one of the best college football teams over the past two years. Napier is aware of the brilliance of Steve Sarkisian’s team, especially on the offensive side.

“Texas has a very talented roster,” Napier said. "I think from top to bottom in every position. It's elite height, length, speed and athleticism. I think they have a veteran quarterback, and they have a rebuilt skill group around him and a handful of offensive linemen who have really good experience.”

Texas has not only been impressive on the offense this season, but the Longhorns also boast a strong defense that ranks among the best in college football. This makes the Week 11 game in Austin a daunting challenge for Billy Napier and his team as they continue to find their footing.

“Defensively I'm really impressed with the overall makeup of that group,” Napier said. “They're explosive at every level... first, second, and third level. They have an identity. They have a blueprint. I think they do a good job playing situational football as well.”

Billy Napier refuses to rule DJ Lagway out of the game

DJ Lagway suffered a hamstring injury against Georgia on Saturday in Jacksonville, FL. The true freshman quarterback was carted off the field in the second quarter of the rivalry encounter with third-string quarterback Aidan Warner stepping taking his place.

Billy Napier offered an update on the status of Lagway on Monday during his weekly media availability. The injured quarterback is said to be in contention for the Texas game.

“Less significant than we anticipated, and he's been doing well so far this morning,” Napier said. “We have not completely ruled him out, and I think a lot of that will be to be determined as we move our way throughout the week. So that's a good thing for all involved and certainly for DJ.”

Following Warner’s underwhelming performance in his cameo against the Bulldogs on Saturday, Florida will hope to have Lagway back as soon as possible. The Gators already have their starting quarterback, Graham Mertz, out of the season due to an ACL tear earlier in the season.
