Texas Tech opened the game with a methodical seven-play, 72-yard drive capped off by a 35-yard passing touchdown from Behren Morton to Josh Kelly, giving the Red Raiders a 7-0 lead. Iowa State responded with a 49-yard field goal to end a 10-play, 44-yard drive to close the gap at 7-3.
