Oregon Ducks star receiver Tez Johnson has not played for the team since suffering an injury in a win over the Michigan Wolverines. The Ducks face the Wisconsin Badgers Saturday, Nov. 16 and hope to have Johnson back in the mix as they attempt to remain undefeated on the year.
Is Tez Johnson playing?
Oregon coach Dan Lanning gave an injury update Friday which included Johnson. Lanning reported the receiver is unlikely to play against the Badgers, but his recovery is going well.
"I think he's doing well. We'll continue to evaluate where he's at for us, but he's doing well."
This season, Johnson has recorded 649 received yards on 64 catches. He has also scored eight touchdowns, making him a reliable target for quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
What about the other injured Ducks?
Lanning spoke about two other key Oregon players who are on the injury report ahead of the Wisconsin game. One is running back Jordan James. James has been Oregon's top running back this season, recording 946 yards and 10 touchdowns on 166 carries. James was injured against Maryland, which limited what he could do.
But he was not the only Oregon player who picked up an injury in last week's game against the Terrapins.
Defensive lineman Jordan Burch went down with an ankle injury. This is his second setback of the season after he missed three games earlier in the year due to a knee injury. Burch leads the team in sacks this season with six and has forced one fumble, which he returned to the endzone.
Lanning spoke about both players Friday.
"We’ll continue to evaluate them to see if they're available. We've had those guys out there helping us, so we'll see what it looks like."
It sounds like both players are game-time decisions. If they do play, the Ducks will benefit from their skills on both sides of the ball.
