For the first time in his career, Colorado coach Deion Sanders will not have his son, Shedeur Sanders, on his team as the quarterback transitions to the NFL via the draft. According to ESPN's latest mock draft, Shedeur is expected to be the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft.
During an appearance on "Rich Eisen Show" on Friday, Coach Prime who has already secured the commitment of five-star QB, Julian Lewis revealed how he expected to maneuver the post-Shedeur Colorado while also affirming his future in Boulder.
“Haven’t spoken to anyone about a package deal or anyone about a deal. Period.” Deion Sanders said. “We’re trying to work something out here. As you speak, I’m not going to lie about that. I have one of the best, if not the best, AD in the country in Rick George and I'm confident that we're going to get something done to keep me here so that we can bring this wonderful city a national championship."
College football fans on X had mixed reactions to Deion Sander's proclamation.
"That would be a circus!!!" one fan said.
Some fans were not optimistic about his chances of actualizing his plan in Boulder or staying too long either without his sons.
"We’re trying to get somin done” doesn’t sound that convincing. We’ll see," another fan said.
"He's leaving in like 2 years, if that," one fan said.
"He don’t be lying at the time… things change 😂," one fan said.
When analysts linked Shedeur and Deion Sanders as a package deal
During a Nov. 25 episode of the "Ringer" podcast, analyst Bill Simmons linked Shedeur and Deion Sanders to the Las Vegas Raiders as a package deal pointing out the demeanor of franchise owner Mark Davis as a deciding factor in letting the charismatic Colorado coach work his magic.
"Mark Davis is nothing like (Jerry Jones). First of all, his hair is beautiful, it really is impeccable," Simmons said. "Secondly, he doesn't care who gets the spotlight, he just wants to be Raiders. That is the perfect, perfect move for them. Shedeur and Deion. People are saying Deion and Shedeur are gonna go to Dallas, not gonna happen."
Simmon's co-host Sal Lancano also weighed in on the issue of Shedeur and Deion Sanders arriving in Las Vegas as a package deal highlighting the potential economic boom that the move would give the Raiders.
"This has Shedeur Sanders and Deion Sanders written all over it," Sal said. "Like all over it. And by the way, I'm here for it. So Vegas (Raiders) is gonna have a top three pick. The Vegas Raiders with Deion and his son, like I'm in. That would be great. The merch would be the number one merch, the Sanders, hard knocks, ten-year contract, like let's go! What are we waiting for?"
Colorado fans will hope that Deion Sanders stays put in Boulder and actualizes his plan of making the Buffaloes national champions after beating all odds to lead their team to a 9-3 record despite the skepticism that plagued the program at the beginning of the 2024 season.
