Former Georgia linebacker and three-time All-American David Pollack slammed the referees for reversing a call after frustrated Texas fans threw bottles onto the field during Saturday’s No. 1 Texas vs. No. 5 Georgia game.

Georgia (6-1) secured a convincing 30-15 win over No. 1 Texas (6-1), but the game briefly halted late in the third quarter when Longhorns fans tossed bottles and trash from the student section.

“Wow I have never seen that in my life. The fans threw bottles on the field and the refs literally changed their call. That is such horse crap man. That’s one of the worst ways of handling a situation I have seen. Can’t believe they ain’t talking about that in the booth,” Pollack tweeted.

The chaos began with a pass interference call against Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron, which resulted in his interception being wiped out and returning to Georgia's 9-yard line. Following the delay caused by the fan uproar, officials reversed the decision, awarding the ball to Texas.

Georgia, now 6-1 and 4-1 in SEC play, heads into a bye week before facing Florida on Nov. 2.

After Georgia's dominant win over Texas, coach Kirby Smart shared his thoughts with ESPN’s Katie George.

“I’m so proud of these guys, because nobody believed,” he said. “Nobody gave us a chance. Your whole network doubted us. Nobody believed us. Then they tried to rob us with calls in this place.”

Smart said that the team's intent wasn’t to take pictures or be superstars:

“Our intent was to eat. Our intent was to come eat and be hungry. I’m not interested in all the bells and whistles. What I want is a team that fights their ass off and they did tonight.”

When asked about Georgia’s defensive performance against Texas, Smart acknowledged their bounce back after a tough previous game.

“Our defense was embarrassed the week before,” Georgia coach said. “But we really played really well. So, when you play really well and you still get embarrassed, we were able to get their attention. I thought they woke up and played really well today.”

Smart’s words reflected a gritty approach with a message about the intent.
