One of the biggest games in the history of the College Football Playoff happened on Wednesday between the Texas Longhorns and the Arizona State Sun Devils. Late in the fourth quarter as the Sun Devils were climbing back and looking like they could potentially upset the Longhorns, one play seemed to change all momentum.

On third-and-15 with about one minute remaining, ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt threw a 10-yard pass to wide receiver Melquan Stovall, who was immediately hit by Texas defensive back Michael Taaffe. Stovall received medical attention and the officiating crew reviewed the play for potential targeting. However, the referees did not deem it as such.

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was a guest on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Thursday and was asked about what he saw regarding the controversial no-call late in the fourth quarter.

"I was looking right at it, I seen him catch the ball and I watched the crown of the helmet go right into the chin of my teammate," Skattebo said. "Like coach Dillingham said last night, you don't really know what targeting is anymore. They're trying to protect players and some are protected and some aren't. I felt that was a little biased but whatever they call is what we're going to rock with and hopefully Melquan is okay."

How did Cam Skattebo do in the Peach Bowl against Texas?

Cam Skattebo continued to prove why he said he is the best running back in the country was not hyperbole as he bounced back from a slow start and was crowned the Peach Bowl MVP. In the two-overtime loss, he finished with 30 rushing attempts for 143 yards (4.8 yards per carry), eight receptions for 99 yards (12.4 yards per catch) and a 42-yard passing touchdown.

Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham was not afraid to put Skattebo in any position to make plays as he has demonstrated the ability to do well in all facets. Do not be surprised if he declares for the 2025 NFL draft as there are real conversations about him being selected before Ashton Jeanty as the first running back off the board.
