Coach Prime's Colorado suffered a 36-14 defeat against BYU in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday and analyst Jason Whitlock had some eye-catching remarks about the Buffs' defeat in their final game of the 2024 season. On Tuesday's episode of his YouTube show, Whitlock claimed (1:42):
"The BYU players and team, they got amazing gift bags and had an amazing bowl experience. And Colorado was on a very strict budget and the players were frustrated by it.
"This was not the typical bowl experience that Colorado had and that is why Colorado didn't take the bowl game that seriously and that is why Colorado's effort was so poor in that game."
Whitlock's remarks about CU's bowl defeat come as a slight surprise. Especially since the CU players and staff traveled to Texas in a customized, luxury plane that had a Rolls-Royce engine.
The Buffs were completely outplayed by BYU in the Alamo Bowl. However, Coach Prime will use the matchup as a lesson in his career.
This was the first time that CU qualified for a bowl game since Sanders was hired by the program in December 2022.
Coach Prime hits out at rumors about his sons' team preferences ahead of 2025 NFL draft
On Monday, Coach Prime fired back at the false rumors about his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, concerning preferences for their NFL destination. Deion tweeted about the false reports and even referred to some media outlets as "idiots" for speaking fake news.
Many fans and analysts believe that Shedeur will go as a top-5 pick in next year's draft. The quarterback led Colorado to a 9-4 overall record this year and almost got the team into the College Football Playoff.
Shedeur also wore New York Giants-themed cleats during the Alamo Bowl, suggesting that he might prefer a move to the Big Apple. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see where the CU signal-caller ends up next year.
