Dylan Raiola is anticipated to play a significant role for Nebraska in the 2024 college football season. The five-star recruit has a huge chance of getting the starting role in his freshman season, allowing him to showcase his arm talent early on.
When asked at a news conference during fall camp on Saturday about how he decides when to use a specific move without risking the ball, he said:
“I think that’s something that’s a gut feeling, honestly. Or a situational feeling. You’ve got to have confidence to throw those throws, but you also have to know the situation of what you’re trying to accomplish in that play, in the situation of the game. It’s being aggressive and cutting it loose but also understanding the situation of the game.”
Dylan Raiola gives his take on Patrick Mahomes' comparison
A recent photo of Dylan Raiola arriving at Nebraska's fall camp broke the internet, getting many people talking about his uncanny resemblance to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
With their style of play a bit similar and both possessing strong arms, questions were raised to Raiola on modeling his game after Mahomes. The quarterback maintains uniqueness while acknowledging he has a lot to learn from the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
“I just try to mimic my game after myself,” Raiola said. “But it also, if you’re trying to get to where you want to get to, you have to see and know what it takes to get there. And I think he’s done more than enough to see what it takes. So, it’s just learning and learning football. But, yeah, just try to do my thing, and the hair, I guess, looks like him.”
Dylan Raiola elated to be noticed by Patrick Mahomes
The picture of Dylan Raiola that led to a social media frenzy got the attention of Patrick Mahomes after former teammate Tyreek Hill called his attention to it, and that has excited Raiola.
"It's pretty cool to be (noticed) by a guy like Mahomes," Raiola said, according to The Athletic's Mitch Sherman. "He's probably going to go down as one of the greatest. It's cool. But our focus is to work on our team and keep getting better in camp."
Following the amount of hype he’s received right from his recruiting days, Raiola has a lot to prove this season. A lot of eyes will certainly be on him.
