Arizona State Sun Devils running back Cam Skattebo has been getting a lot of attention after his performance against Texas in the Peach Bowl. While the star running back has been putting up star performances all year, he was able to show his talents to a national audience when ASU played the Longhorns on Wednesday.
While the Sun Devils lost the game 39-31 in double overtime, Skattebo showed he has what it takes to be an NFL draft prospect. He had 143 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in the game. He also added eight receptions for 99 yards.
After the game, Skattebo's mom, Becky Skattebo, posted a photo on X of her with her son. She talked about how proud she was of him.
"Such a crazy game. SO PROUD of him and his whole team," she wrote. "They proved why they deserved to be there. They don't quit! He put everything he had into that game and I'll always feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to join the Sundevil Nation."
A fan responded to the post, saying that her son had become one of their favorite players to watch this season. They praised Cam Skattebo for his work ethic and passion for the game. Becky Skattebo responded to this fan, saying that she agreed, but she had some fun taking a dig at his fashion choices.
"Thats what it is, nobody that's ever talked to him face to face would make that comment," she wrote. "That's not who he is. His love of the jewelry throws me off a bit, I guess that's how I know I'm getting old because I don't get 'Fashion' these days. 🤣"
Cam Skattebo positioned himself to get drafted in 2025
After his performance against Texas, Cam Skattebo established himself as an NFL draft prospect. An NFL scout told Fox Sports analyst Jordan Schultz what he liked about his performance, saying:
"Not sure what he's gonna run, nor do I care. You can't bring the dude down. That's a skill that translates to the pro level"
Even Texas coach Steve Sarkisian praised Skattebo and said:
"He got stronger, it felt like. You could see he was fatigued, too. It was like a heavyweight fight. He made some really critical plays."
According to Pro Football Focus, Skettebo ranks second in the FBS in missed tackles behind Boise State's Ashton Jeanty. In Tankathon's latest mock draft, Skattebo was taken with the 97th overall pick.
