Shedeur Sanders had a good game against Colorado State on Saturday in the Rocky Mountain Showdown. However, the encounter was full of drama from the pregame down to the postgame, showcasing how intense the rivalry matchup was between both schools.
A postgame scene that went viral was when Shedeur Sanders said some inappropriate words to his Colorado State counterpart, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. The Colorado quarterback gave his side of the story on a recent installment of the “2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders” podcast.
“Yeah, I said something because I'm just human,” Sanders admitted. “So it was like you're not going to keep talking crazy about us and talk crazy like you're like all the time. You're not like that at all.”
“You didn't even have to go there but since you took it there, then it's that. It felt like a lot of hate to me, personally. But of course, the media tried to portray it like I did something wrong. But that's just how it is, we understood what's going on. We don't even get affected by it anymore.”
What did Shedeur Sanders say to Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi?
The postgame encounter between Shedeur Sanders and Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi didn't go well. Fans may have thought the two quarterbacks met to greet each other professionally after the game, but that didn't happen. Fowler-Nicolosi extended his hand but Sanders refused to shake it.
The Colorado quarterback instead reacted to a pregame comment by his Colorado State counterpart, inferring the Buffaloes do things for social media clicks. Sanders was offended by this and made a blunt and inappropriate statement to Fowler-Nicolosi.
“You were talking that s--t on Instagram,” Sanders reportedly said.
Deion Sanders believes it was a personal game
Rivalry games are hotly contested throughout the college football world but Deion Sanders felt the Rocky Mountain Showdown was personal. This reflected in the way the Buffaloes handled the entire proceedings as they went on to secure a win.
“Personal game, emotional game," Deion Sanders said. "They kind of make it like that. We just want to play some football. The disrespect was uncalled for throughout the week. We knew that coming into the game it was going to be a bit personal, and it was.”
Colorado came out victorious with a 28-10 final in the game, serving as a redemption for the setback created by the Nebraska loss in Week 2. The Buffaloes restart life in the Big 12 with an encounter against Baylor in Week 4.
