Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continued his stellar form in Week 9 of college football action during the Buffaloes' 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Sanders registered 323 yards on 83.3% completion resulting in two touchdowns during the win leading to the Buffs being bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016.
Sanders has now registered 2,591 yards on 73.3% completion resulting in 21 touchdowns and six interceptions. On Monday, during an episode of ESPN's "The First Draft," NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. evaluated the maverick quarterback's future team in the NFL via the draft.
"In terms of the team that screams Shedeur Sanders is Las Vegas," Mel Kiper said. "He patterns himself after Tom Brady, he operates with the influence to draft him to Las Vegas in terms of the quarterback evaluation. If we're talking about the draft right now and not on the 8th then right? If you need a quarterback, Shedeur Sanders would make sense there."
Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft analyzed by Johnny Manziel
During an episode of the "Big Bets on Campus" podcast, outspoken former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was full of praise for Shedeur Sanders and he made a prediction about the quarterback's draft future.
"Shedeur is obviously going to be a guy that’s going to be looked at and probably be the top quarterback coming off the board this year. He’s played well for what he’s around him at times, he had guys out this week, and he still continues to find a way to put up good numbers and play really well," Manziel said.
Manziel further broke down the NFL teams that would be in the running to pick Shedeur.
"I think the Carolina (Panthers) situation is one that’s obvious they're going to go in a different direction. I mean you spend the picks to get Bryce Young, and now he is sitting there on the bench," Manziel said.
"The Jacksonville (Jaguars) situation to me is a little bit more of a different situation. You know you didn’t just draft this guy; you just actually unloaded the Brinks truck and backed it up to his house. So, I think they are going to stick with Lawrence probably through some of these growing pains and I don’t think they have the ability to really be able to move on."
Shedeur Sanders has four games remaining in college football to further boost his draft stocks and make himself one of the first quarterbacks and even players picked in the 2025 NFL Draft.
