The Vanderbilt Commodore football program used an out-of-the-box marketing strategy for their season ticket sales. However, the CFB world was not impressed by their unique endeavor of using "hot chicken" to influence football enthusiasts towards purchasing the tickets.

The Commodore football program uploaded a picture on Instagram of the FirstBank Stadium in the background and a photo of crispy hot chicken with dip over it. The message on the post read:

"Best hot chicken in college football"

The post was captioned:

"¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Get your season tickets with the link in our bio!"

However, contrary to expectations, fans didn't receive the post in good taste. They flooded the comments section with their version of innovative fun. One fan wrote:

"Vanderbilt detected, opinion rejected"
"And the worst stadium 😍," commented another.
"And a god damn construction site for a stadium," read another comment.

Anonymous coach criticizes Vanderbilt for ignoring football program

Vanderbilt's football program is under fire, and anonymous SEC coaches aren't holding back.

The Commodores have struggled under coach Clark Lea, who arrived from Notre Dame. He has an abysmal 9-27 record, including two 2-win campaigns.

"I hear nothing but good things about Clark Lea," one anonymous coach said. "But you could have Knute Rockne and The Gipper and everybody else and it would be remarkable if they won six games. It's such a difficult job.”
“They’ve never really put resources in the football program. They are renovating the stadium. But a building by itself don’t get it done in football. You’ve got to have people and resources."

One key issue for the Commodores is depth. They managed a 5-7 record in 2022 but couldn’t build on that.

"They get good players in spots, but you’ve got to have about 18 on offense and 18 on defense to have a solid team, and they’ve got about 8-12 total," another coach noted.

While renovating the stadium might improve the program's image, winning games is what truly counts.
