College football fan Dan Lanning took a subtle jab at Ohio State after its Rose Bowl loss on Wednesday.

The Oregon Ducks suffered a lopsided 41-21 loss to the Buckeyes to lose in the college football quarterfinals. After the game, Lanning took a shot at Ohio State for losing to Michigan in the final regular season game of the year.

“Sometimes it's not your day. It wasn't our day today and it wasn't their day against Michigan," Lanning said after the game.

Some fans took aim at the coach for his comments after the defeat.

"The Michigan jab felt a little petty. He knows his guys got screwed on the seeding," a fan added.
"There’s no way he said this. Straight to the jugular," a fan wrote.

Ohio State fans weren't pleased with Lanning's comments as they felt it was unnecessary.

"Michigan is living in everybody’s head rent free," a fan wrote.
"Yo man this petty. But it looks weak coming from a coach who got the brakes beaten off him coming in as 1 seed. Not a good look on his part," a fan added.

The Ducks were the No. 1 seed but lost in its first game of the playoffs after getting a bye for winning the Big Ten.

"Sometimes it’s better to offer no excuse than a bad excuse. Just admit you didn’t have your guys ready to play and the Buckeyes just dominated you," a fan wrote.
"It hasn’t been their day against Michigan for 4 straight years," a fan added.

The Ducks struggled out of the gates losing 34-0 and 34-8 at the half.

Dan Lanning believes Ohio State can win it all

After Oregon was blown out by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, Dan Lanning had high praise for the Buckeyes.

He said this Buckeyes team has all the talent to go and win the entire thing.

"Coach Day and his staff have done an unbelievable job," Dan Lanning said, via Athlon Sports. "As a team, I think [Ohio State] has the ability to go win it all."

Ohio State will play the Texas Longhorns in the college football semifinals in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
