Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes have been catching flak for their 42-41 defeat to the Iowa State Cyclones at the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Saturday. The U pulled out their Heisman finalist quarterback at halftime, choosing to go with backup Emory Williams for the second half.

While some have blamed coach Mario Cristobal for the decision, college football analyst Jason Brown believes Cam Ward is to blame for the fiasco.

"I think rules and the NCAA put this cat and so many others in a bad predicament from allowing them to even play a half of a game or not. That's No. 1, No. 2, I'm choosing violence today because these kids have zero character, no integrity and can care less about their team or their institution.
"That's why they go to four different institutions in a matter of four years. They could give a f*ck less what's on that diploma. They're chasing a bag, the grown men in the room, the rooms, have allowed and enabled these kids to become entitled beyond belief."

Brown also stated that he didn't even watch the game, given that he believes college football was in shambles and preferred to spend his day on his yacht.

He also pointed out that Cameron Ward's decision to play half a game seemed designed to upend the narrative from Shedeur Sanders, who had announced that he would play the entirety of the Alamo Bowl.

Another point he raised is that college athletes are now paid to play. There is some dishonesty involved in not playing their final game of the season when they've received thousands of dollars to do so.

While Brown's language and attitude were florid and dismissive of college football in general, he did point out what are some valid points about the evolution of college football. The rise of NIL and the transfer portal have turned college football more business-like and have eroded some of the traditions of the sport.

Cam Ward drops to third in the NFL Draft first overall pick odds

On Christmas Eve, Cameron Ward was the No. 2 most likely first overall pick according to Fan Duel, with odds of +170 and with Shedeur Sanders ahead of him. That no longer is the case, as he now has odds of +1000 and he's third with Travis Hunter having jumped to the second position.

Shedeur Sanders remains on top, although his odds are slightly worse. His odds are +125 at the moment, having been -200 on Dec. 24. Hunter improved from +950 to +280.
